It's been a busy few weeks for our section, and I must start by apologising for a senior moment which resulted in me forgetting the June lunchtime meet. However I did manage to get to a few other of the events in July. The club night was well attended and several of us did a short ride around before hand. One or two of you also managed to sort a bike out for Gabby. The speedo drive saga was finally laid to rest (until the next time). We also managed a ride out to Shotley Marina, (expensive sandwiches), and John Walsh took us to Andy Tiernans, where we were made very welcome, and then on to Parham Airfield Museum. Definitley worth another visit, but no food available, just tea and snacks. That evening I took the Hadleigh club on another ride just to keep my hand in. We had another meeting with the Suffolk section at Manningtree station, with some ten bikes from our section on display, led by Phil. The Maldon Club BBQ attracted a few of us, but I had a clashing bike show at CVCVC Great Yeldham, so missed a good evening according to those who did go.

An excursion to Scotland meant I also managed to miss the Hadleigh Club BBQ which I understand was also up to scratch, with good food and company. I understand that Road Closed holds no fear for some of our members when food is in prospect! One or two members have paid Russel a visit in Norwich Hospital , and he should be going nearer to home soon so we may be able to pay him a visit.

The July lunch meet was at the Saracens Head at Newton Green recommended by George, and it was excellent, with good food and service. On the way home we called in on Margaret Lay to let her know how we had got on with the books, and I am pleased to report that she approves of what we are doing. We will be organising a trophy  and making a donation to the Air Ambulance, and Colin has suggested that we make it an annual donation in January in Johns memory. The balance is now in the bank, and should the section fold, be donated to the air ambulance.

An example of what we may be able to do in the future, is the forthcoming talk by Colin Seely at the motorcycle museum. Those of you who have read your Jampot would have seen the details. Clearly its too late to do anything about that particular one , but we could in the future organise a trip to something like that using a minibus.

August's club night saw a big turnout of bikes and several of us managed a run around the Essex/Suffolk border before the meeting. It was unfortunate that the Hadleigh club had a ride out on the same night, but these things do happen and it didnt affect our numbers too much. Colin gave a report on what has been a busy time for our section, and there was a good deal of nattering going on throughout the evening There were some nice bikes about and it was good to see several bikes of the marque on display. I gathered from George that he is considering reducing his fleet of bikes so if you are interested do contact him. Moto GP has settled down to the correct order of things as far as Im concerned and after their summer break it will be interesting to see who can stay up front.

I may just get to the race at Aragon. I noticed that Essex County Council have once again littered large stretches of road with the old chippings again. When will they stiop doing that? One or two of you have been marshalling at the Pre 65 scrambles in the area, and i gather thats a good day out, but I have yet to make it to one.

I have organised a run for CVCVC bikers on Saturday 20th August so anyone interested in joining us, just let me know.

In the abscence of an scheduled daytime ride this month, I could do one on Wednesday the 16th, and Colin will be sending out the details. The Lunch meeting will be on the 27th, the venue yet to be confirmed.

Thats about it. Safe Riding, Gordon
