Last night we had a good turnout at the Alma, with 15 members, nine of which turned up on bikes, including a combination. We discussed the clubs upcoming events in the next couple of months and an enjoyable evening was had by all.
The October club night was a bit down on numbers, but here was some discussion about the museum trip and it was decided that those who wanted to go should make their own arrangements and meet there. In the event, seven of us made it to the National Motor Cycle Museum, with three intrepid riders, and a car full from Mersea. Claiming to have left Mersea at the same time we left the Alma, how did they get there before us? Anyway it was well worth the trip and could become a regular visit.
Thanks to George and June, we managed to find out in good time , that the pub at Pinkau, scheduled for our lunch meet, was no longer serving food. We met instead at The Crown, Wormingford, and most of the usual suspects enjoyed a good lunch.
We had a ride into Suffolk , but a long stop at Cake Street Classics cut short the chance to visit Lowestoft, but we had a good lunch in Wrentham before returning home. There was a good club presence at the last Pre65 scramble at Marks Tey with two members riding and four giving moral support. Vic of course has his own fan club as well! I would like to thank Julian for introducing our section to the Pre65 scene, as it has added another dimension to our activities, and one I find very enjoyable. The last one of the season is on November 5th.
Dont forget to get photos to Kevin for next years calendar and we need entries for the clubs photo competition as well. If those of you presented with trophies last January could bring them to the December club night, it would be appreciated, so we can allocate them for this year. In view of the weather and the age of riders, the November and December runs will be of shorter duration. With that in mind a trip to Landguard Point will be on November 10th, 10.30am at the Alma. The lunch meeting will be at the New Times Tiptree on the 25th, when we hope to finalise the our Annual Presentation Evening at the same venue for January 10th. George has kindly agreed to collect the money for the dinner before hand. Those of you who belong to the Hadleigh Club will be able to attend theirs on the 13th!
I apologise for not updating the events page last month but there was some technical hitch which has now been fixed. Colin and I would like to thank you all for your continued support, and we hope to see you at some if not all of the forthcoming section events. Gordon
