Sorry, but this is a bit late. I have been busy sorting out my B-A. Although it stayed together for our foray into Lands End/John O Groats, it did use a bit of oil and new valve guides didn’t look as if they would do the trick!

John and I did consider visiting the Ace for the founder’s day but the weather forecast together with the reputation of Essex/Cambridge councils, made up our minds. I am not riding in the snow!

The annual Presentation Evening on 12th February at the Cricketers at Eight Ash Green was well attended, but there was room for more. John had trouble with the original booked venue so it was good that we did make it in the end.

The photographic competition was won by Keith Pottinger, and he was presented with a trophy for his efforts. Colin Smith won the Alan Jones Clubman cup, for the member that has attended the most club events during the year. Colin remains one of the clubs most enthusiastic members as well as being our treasurer.

I won the Ralph Davis award-I am not quite sure what for, but I did spend a lot of time accompanying our chairman during 2011!
We thought that John deserve red some recognition for his outstanding devotion to keeping our section running and as recognition of that he was presented with a couple of books, to help him keep his mind off his restoration projects!

The club wouldn’t be the same without the support of the ladies, and flowers were presented to Dot Mciiroy for organising the lunch meetings throughout the year, Julia Levett for hosting the committee meetings, and Jane Smith for her birthday cards (and putting up with Colin). We should mention Margaret Lay here as she does a sterling job as secretary for John and he would be even more disorganised without her help! We all had a good evening, thanks again to John’s efforts.

We had a ride out into Suffolk for yet another visit to Draganfly in Bungay.I am sure John will get it on the road soon! We also did a bit of research into a family tree, as well as a good lunch in Bungay.

Next came the March club night with one or two bikes turning upland a with the usual yarning, beer and sandwiches, a good night was had by all.
We had a scheduled ride out into Suffolk and Cambridgeshire on march 15th, visiting the bikers cafe near High Point Prison for a coffee and then lunch at Sible Hedingham. As usual we had a lovely day amid glorious sunshine, exactly what bikes should be used for.

We had an unscheduled run to cakefield classics, because of my ongoing engine rebuild, and again we enjoyed a quite rapid ride there and back on modern bikes, so John could get back for lunch! I really enjoyed it and I hope John and Chris did too.

The next lunch meeting is due on the 24th and the next club night on 5th April. We have a club run on 19th, and I am doing a run for the hadlegh club on the 16th and I will be doing an exploratory planning run in the morning, leaving the Alma at 10 am for anyone interested. There are lots of things going on so keep an eye on the events calendar. Safe riding.
