January has been a bit problematical for our leader as he struggled to find a venue for our annual dinner. However it’s all been sorted and we are meeting on Saturday 11th of February at the Cricketers in Eight Ash Green. If you want to go and haven’t had the details contact John as soon as possible. And a thank you for John for persevering!

We had a good turnout for the January meeting even though the windy weather resulted in no bikes turning up. I did think about it but there really was no need. We did have a good run out to the Victoria in Earl Soham on January 12th. I did a recce of the route a couple of days before hand on my BMW and we had the table next to fire reserved for us. Six turned up, four from our section and a couple of friends. I was on my 125cc Vavarado, and the others included a 1200cc Suzuki!

Once again we had a very warm reception. We were a bit early and we were welcomed in and had a coffee and a yarn as the staff finalised the menu, and then a very good lunch. We returned via Leiston, Orford and Woodbridge. A detour to David Silver Spares in Leiston, explained why I had been unable to get an oil filter having registered my bike with their system earlier in the year. They no longer supply spares to bikes younger than 2002.We didn’t get any explanation for it! 122 miles from Colchester (a bit further from Mersea!).

I have now managed to get the back wheel out of that little bike and have a new valve fitted. I have had it for a while now and with just a side stand and spring loaded footrests it was not possible. Thanks to a paddock stand off e bay, it’s now been resolved.

The cost of stamps is about to go up a lot. This must have implications for the Jampot distribution.E mail could be forced upon us!
Finally one or two members attended the Hadleigh club dinner on the 21st.

Now we can look forward to our own. Next club night, February 1st See you there.Gordon Levett
