The weather has been a bit better, at least if only a bit warmer! I managed the lunch at end of April. And I am afraid I missed some events during the month. I understand the intersection meet was attended by four of our section, but there were a large number of AMC bikes on show as well as some light aircraft. A very successful event I did manage the May club night, with nine others on various marques, although I did get half way home before I realised I was wearing Johns crash helmet!
And Bill had to walk home as the first trip to the club with his 250 AJS resulted in a flat battery!

The annual meet with the East Suffolk’s at Manningtree was a success with some six members attending. Only one of our section made the Stowe Maries WW1 Airfield open day. This airfield is being restored to its original 1916 layout where many of the original buildings exist, and is the only example remaining.

I was away for the rest of May. I hope you have all been able to watch the coverage of the TT on ITV4. Spectacular or what?  The Moto GPs have been pretty good as well.
With holidays starting only six turned up for the section lunch at Gt Totham I had to miss the June club night as I had a clashing commitment-several laps around Brands Hatch!
Ten members attended and there were two guests.

The visit to Andy Prills workshop had to be called off as Andy had to make an unscheduled trip to repair a customer’s car taking part in a rally in Russia! He has promised to arrange another date for us.

Bill accompanied me on my run into Suffolk on the 12th as I checked it out for a repeat in the evening for the Hadleigh club. Bill is a relatively new member of our section and most welcome. Having more than twenty roadworthy machines, we have yet to see the same bike twice. Most of us struggle to keep two or three going.

I had intended to go to watch the Banbury Run on the 16th, but once again it’s a popular day for my Family to get together!
Four of us attended the Harwich Project opening of the finished education centre in the Old Station, and after some lunch saw the first cuts of a large piece of oak for the start of the keel.
Quite Exciting. A return visit for us and a worthwhile project.

I am now off to the Le Mans 24hrs .John has e mailed you with a list of forthcoming events I see there is a fish and chip run with the Hadleigh club on the25th.Its usually a very good ride
Then on Wednesday 26th.Museum of East Anglian Life, which is a really good day out. Ladies lunch on the 29th, Suffolk Punch day on the 30th as well as Manningtree Schools Car and Bike show.

The July club night is on July 3rd and a visit to Flixton Air Museum on the 9th. Our section leader John has come up with an interesting improvement to the wiring on his modern bike.
The idea was put into effect by one of our section members, and was it was so impressive, he modified his own. I am next in line for the modification on my modern machine.

Keep an eye on the events section and contact John for more details.

Safe Riding .Gordon
