We had an excellent turnout for our February club night with some twenty members and guests. Colin gave a run through of the events of a busy month for the club, including our trip to say farewell to Russel. We intend to return the hospitality we recieved when Joan is in better health.
We did get our first club ride in January, and three of us left the Alma on bikes, and one coming on by car due to unforseen circumstances. We arrived at the Victoria to find Jim Lomax who had travelled on his own from Ipswich, so five of us sat down to lunch and put the world to rights. We discussed rides for the coming few months at the club night, and it was agreed to have a ride to Pin Mill on the 26th February, and that the pre meeting rides would start in April. It was also agreed to wait a bit before we visit Merlin.
We need to consider a date for visiting Stow Maries at the next club night. It looks like their main events are on Sundays, the dates being 1st April, (Easter Sunday), 22nd April and 20th of May. We also need to choose a destination for our March weekday ride. May I suggest the Granary Museum and the Museum of East Anglian Life? The weekend rides confirmed so far are the intersection meet, on Sunday 29th of April which is boldly advertised in the Jampot, and the Jampot Rally which is 17th-19th of August. The details will be announced nearer to the events. The Rougham airfield show dates have yet to be announced. The dates mentioned at the club night are on a Thursday and Friday! A trip to see the Lancaster in Lincolnshire is also on the agenda, and as its shut on Sunday's that may have to be a week day ride.
The next lunch meeting is at The Monkey at Rayleigh Arms Terling, on Saturday 24th, usual time. Dont forget you are all welcome. Just tell Dot.
The next club night is March 7th.
