The September lunch time meet at the Lamarsh Lion was not up to its usual standard this time and may be dropped from our list in the future. I have to say it was ok when I last visited it with the CVCVC bike section not so long ago.

Incidentally for those of you with an interest in cars as well as bikes I can recommend this club at £15pa. For a taster look up the website, Colne Valley Classic & Vintage Club. Some of us are already members of both.

AJS CustomThe latest Club night was well attended with some fifteen members attending and one new recruit, Jim Finigan with a very nice customised AJS.

We now have at least three retired and one active police officer in our section. My speculation is that they all choose AJS or Matchless machines so as not to get caught speeding!

The decision to continue with the Presentation Dinner was unanimous and it was agreed that a Wednesday in January would be a good time to hold it.

Chris Mac said Dot was prepared to organise it and since the meeting it’s been booked for January 13th at the Ship, Tiptree.

Further details have been sent out via e mail and will appear on the website. Please let us know if you would like to be added to the 30 already booked in,and advise us with your choice of meal. All payments before the end of the year. Thank You.

These arrangements may not suit everyone, but, in the absence of more volunteers, we have tried to make it as easy for Dot as we can. Its new territory for both Colin and me.

Engraving for the trophies was also discussed, and I have since found an engraver whose charges are more reasonable, and Colin and I visited the premises while out on Tuesdays run.

Could we please ask if you have a trophy, to bring to the December club night at the latest?

Also there is the photographic competition and entries would be appreciated at the November club night if possible to enable last year’s winner, John Swann, to judge before the event.

Action photos, like John's last year of my hero Guy Martin, are my favourites.

We had been told that Russell is back in hospital and we send our best wishes to him and to Joan. I never tire of listening to his stories, whether it be bikes, cars or planes.

I gather the fish and chip run to Sudbury was overall a success, although the seating arrangements could have been easier. I seem to remember we had a bit of bother in Leiston as well! Is it us?

Colin reported that a second batch of club shirts was on its way after a hiccup at the factory. We will all be well turned out by the time he has finished.

We had a run organised off the cuff yesterday 13th of October and seven of us on various machines including a 650 Matchless enjoyed a trip through the country side, a visit to a nice little cafe, and another pleasant ride home, some 70 miles in total for the Mersea contingent, Chris and John Swann, and maybe a few more for John Walsh. It was good to see you all and I hope you enjoyed it.

We did encounter a particularly aggressive tractor driver, who typically had no number plate, appeared not to look in his mirrors, and had a total distain for motorcycles.

We are still on the lookout for places to visit next year. Any where up to a couple of hours away appear to be the most popular, although we could venture further afield by car if necessary.

I shall miss the next lunch meeting, as we once again head north for some child minding, so I hope to see you all at the next club night November 4th, just two days before my speed awareness course!
