Our June club night was a bit down on numbers with 20 attending, but there were eight apologies so thats not so bad. Three of us ventured out in the rain for the pre-meeting ride but the weather relented so we didnt get soaked. After the usual club business, the events for the month were discussed and then the main event was the presentation of a bike to Bernie. Thanks to Colins generosity, and the efforts of several members over the past few months, Bernie is now the proud owner of a working bike that he can use to ride with us. It was felt that the with problems he has encountered over the last year or so he deserved a break! The full story should appear in the Jampot magazine.
I must apologise for missing the dealine for the next jampot so there will be no section notes next month.Three of us rode to the international rally in Norfolk and the weather was quite kind. We had a good look around and a nice lunch, met up with John Walsh, and we left for home before Steve arrived. We weren't so lucky on the way back and we had quite a lot of rain until we cleared Norwich. A 198 mile round trip, and enjoyed by us all.
Colin and I marshalled at the Marks Tey pre 65 scramble on the 16th.This was very well organised by Julian, and Vic was active in several races, and the trophies were presented by Dave Bickers widow to the worthy winners. I managed a couple of very enjoyable laps on a Greeves Challenger, and I have to hand it to the riders, I dont know how they manage such speeds on that sort of track and surface. A big thank you to Julian and the bikes owner for the opportunity. Just a pity more of you didnt come and have a go.
The BMF insurance fund benefited by £60 as we both donated the days pay! The lunch meeting on the 22nd will be attended by Joan and her friend Annie to say thank you to them for their hospitality during our visits to get Russels bike going and at the wake. Let Dot know if you are coming and order your food. The Mersea Myths MK3 is on the 26th, leaving the Alma at 7pm. And of course the next clubnight is on Wednesday 3rd July.Pre meeting ride leaving at 7pm prompt, with full tanks! I hope to see you there Gordon
