The June 7th club night was well attended with over twenty members, and half a dozen took part in the pre meeting ride around the back roads of Essex after a slight delay for refuelling!

The section had a busy May, and one or two of us who belong to both clubs ,joined the Hadleigh Club ride from the Queens Head, Lower Layham, to the Alma on the 15th.

Our evening run scheduled for the 17th, was postponed because of the rain until the next day, which turned out to be worse. Colin, George and I turned up and were able to organise ourselves for a trip the next day to get Russell's bike going after three years standing.

Thanks to some hard work by all of us we had it running before lunch, and afterwards, a carburettor clean, resulted in the bike starting and running quite well.

It was felt some new fuel lines and a set of points were really needed, and Colin and I paid another visit on June 5th resulting in a bike that now starts easily and runs very well. May I suggest that in future, any visitors might just pop in the garage and give it a few minutes running.

On the 23rd we had a good ride out to the Norwich Airport Aviation Museum, thanks to Chris Mac, and some six members and a guest from the Maldon Club had a very enjoyable day out. Well worth a visit but basic catering!

The lunch meeting at The Bell Inn, Tolleshunt Major, was attended by nine regulars and voted a success.

The Alma held its annual beer festival over the bank holiday and on Monday 29th we supported Derek with a dozen bikes and three cars for his Classic car and Bike show, which he was quite pleased about. I had to leave early but I gather the catering was expensive!

We have several events lined up for June, including a delve into the Norfolk countryside with John Swan, a visit to the East London section with Vic, and a mystery tour with Paul finishing at a fish and chip shop somewhere!.

We have been invited to the Hadleigh Classic Bike Clubs barbecue, June 26th, not to be missed, as well as a couple of their runs, so plenty to do. They now have a website, www.hadcmcc.com with event details.

The lunch meeting this month is at The Ship, Tiptree on June 24th, and the July club night is on the 5th.

We also have an invite to the Clare Village Show on July 1st, Thanks to our two members who are residents, Kevin and Peter.

Keep an eye on our events page on our website for details

I hope to see you at some of these. Gordon
