The Ladies Lunches that Dot organises each month are always well attended and luckily they tend to take a considerable time to enjoy, with extremely important  motorcycle business being discussed at one end of the table, and ladies banter at the other end. Mind you there is always one who can cause trouble so Alan Jones needs to take heed as his excuse about being deaf is wearing a bit thin, when he easily hears what he wants to hear.

At our last midweek rideout I was the only one to turn up. This was not unexpected as we seem to have had many members incapacitated and others on holiday. Nevertheless your esteemed leader had a wonderful ride through Essex and Herts going just wherever his fancy took him.

Club night was lively as there was quite a bit of business to get through. A few of us had a short rideout before the meeting but we missed Gordon for his legendary run leadership abilities.  Paul Davis arrived on what he called an H-D and as I have never seen a Heavy Duty Matchless I assumed he meant a HeavyWeight. I’m sure he did!  Chris Hare turned up looking decidedly poorly with gum problems but was then recovering. Quickly I hope. The sandwiches seem to get more and more at each meeting but as long as Chris Mac and Paul are present they seem to disappear.

The following evening it was the Maldon Club’s BBQ to which they kindly invited us as usual. It was a leisurely ride there only to find the Bar Steward had failed to turn up and there was no beer available. However this was eventually put right and we had a very enjoyable evening. Earlier in the month we had been invited to the Hadleigh Club BBQ and an equally good time was had. So many people to talk to with all sorts of bikes and problems with important issues such as what type of footrest rubber to get or polishing cloth to try.

Don’t forget the ongoing Photo Competition so just keep riding carefully.
