Our section has been busy over the last couple of months and I will try to make a note of them all.

The ladies lunch at the end of July was very good at the Donkey and Buskins, where some of us renewed our contact with Allan, the landlord, and he made it clear we would be made more than welcome should we wish to return.

The august club night was well attended, with sixteen present, and we welcomed a new member, Paul, who has just moved here from Hampshire, bringing a nice G9 with plenty of works history.

John Lay led four of us on a run into deepest Suffolk, stopping for lunch at the cafe near Highpoint Prison. I don’t think there was any significance in the location but we were all driving carefully!

Eight bikes and one pillion passenger took the fish and chip run to Walton this year. It’s a bit nearer than Aldeburgh, and gave the bikes a good run on some quicker roads. As usual the food was excellent and it was good to see Julian back with us again.

Several us attended the Hadleigh Clubs 30th anniversary show, with our bikes, and I had an excellent day catching up with old friends and having the odd burger and beer.

The highlight had to be meeting Jo Louis, the former world speedway champion. What a lovely chap, with such enthusiasm still for bikes.

He had been to Rye House the Saturday night with Ipswich Speedway team and was due at Mildenhall later in the day. In the event he overstayed with us as he enjoyed judging the bikes.

I gather the ladies lunch at Bell in Clare was not a great success for those eight that attended. I missed that one!

I did make the September club night and was rewarded by taking the pre meeting run.

Several of us enjoyed a quick trip of about an hour through the lanes. The only downside was Gabby’s lights which gave up and he had to be recovered via Carol Nash!

I asked him at the October club night what the problem was, but he hadn’t looked at it. He just brought another bike out!

I also missed what I understand was a first class ride organised by Russell into the Fens, I believe there will be a separate write up. I always miss the best!
The September lunch was by contrast considered to be the best venue to date with eight present at the Ship Inn Tiptree.

Several of our members were persuaded by Julian, our youngest member, to help him out with a Pre 65 Scramble event at Maylandsea.Fresh from a win on his regular ride, an AJS Stormer, Julian was meeting secretary with some 100 riders entered .I think the promise of £20 and a free trip to the burger van for a bit of flag waving, was too much to miss and those attending had a good time. I would have gone to that had I been here!

Moto Gp has been very exciting lately, with a win for Rossi, Pedrosa and for Lorenzo. There isno doubt that Marques has made the others up their game.I am pleased for them, and Marques has shown he can make mistakes.

There were twelve at the October club night and the trip to the triumph museum which has been postponed a few times was finally arranged for Sunday 19th of October.

Colin also mentioned the Classic Meeting at Snetterton over the weekend of October 11th and 12th, and I hope to join him on Saturday.

Dont forgrt the lunch meeting on Saturday 25th, venue not yet decided and the club night on November 4th at the Alma.

Finally, having just driven 2700 miles in France and Spain the only way to describe our roads in this country is appalling.

Do ride carefully this winter as all the usual winter hazards become much worse thanks to the state of the roads themselves
